LyX, The Document Processor

LyX is an advanced open source document processor running on many Unix platforms (including MacOS X), OS/2, and under Windows/Cygwin. Note that all these ports use the same xforms interface and need an X server. Unlike standard word processors, LyX encourages an approach to writing based on the structure of your documents, not their appearance. LyX lets you concentrate on writing, leaving details of visual layout to the software.

APT (Advanced Package Tool) is well known by debian users since it is used by default with their dpkg package format. But apt has been ported to work with rpm packages by Conectiva, which has now used it for some time in their GNU/Linux distribution. The good news is that apt for rpm may be used with any other rpm-based distribution! All you need is the tool compiled for your version of rpm and at least a package repository where rpm packages with the apt metadata can be found.

Otter: A general-purpose network visualization tool

Otter is a new CAIDA tool for visualizing arbitrary network data that can be expressed as a set of nodes, links or paths. We developed Otter to handle visualization tasks for a wide variety of Internet data we deal with in our research, including data sets on topology, workload, performance, and routing. We have used Otter to visualize: multicast and unicast topology databases, core BGP routing tables, reachability and delay measurements, SNMP data, and web site directory structures. Otter's strength is in its data independence: it can handle any formatted data set consisting of links and nodes.

Cluster It (ou Clusterit) est un projet ancien et stable, bénéficiant de mises à jour régulières, qui réunit des outils simples (écrits en C) pour transformer un parc d’ordinateurs hétérogènes sous système Unix ou GNU / Linux en cluster (grappe) de machines pouvant exécuter en parallèle des commandes lancées à distance. Inspiré à son auteur, Tim Rightnour, par PSSP, d’IBM, il est aujourd’hui financé par la société Mach1 Computing, LLC[1].
