Making PDF documents with DocBook

This article describes how you can use DocBook to develop PDF documents and will cover tools you need to edit DocBook articles and tools to translate them to PDF documents. Since this article only names the software tools you need and does not tell how to install them, this article is intended for experienced Linux users.

RealizationEngine

The RealizationEngine is a new, inovative web-based communication tool that facilitates group communications better than any tool we've ever seen. Being web-based means that the information can be accessed from any web-enabled device, anywhere in the world. If you need security, 128-bit Ecommerce grade security can be enabled simply. Being a closed system, only authorized individuals have access to information, and information can be compartmentalized, restricted or published openly all from the same system. Ideas are coherently threaded, and every message is searchable in a single location, and in context of the messages related to it.

Fossil Hominids : the Evidence for Human Evolution

Bonne lecture, donc.

Siege : an http regression testing and benchmarking utility

SIEGE is an http regression testing and benchmarking utility. It was designed to let web developers measure the performance of their code under duress, to see how it will stand up to load on the internet. It lets the user hit a webserver with a configurable number of concurrent simulated users. Those users place the webserver "under siege." The duration of the siege is measured in transactions, the sum of simulated users and the number of times each simulated user repeats the process of hitting the server. Thus 20 concurrent users 50 times is 1000 transactions, the length of the test.

The Ontology Inference Layer OIL

The Ontology Inference Layer OIL is a proposal for a web-based representation and inference layer for ontologies, which combines the widely used modelling primitives from frame-based languages with the formal semantics and reasoning services provided by description logics. It is compatible with RDF Schema (RDFS), and includes a precise semantics for describing term meanings (and thus also for describing implied information).

Open Source Search Engines

Open source search engines allow participants to make changes and contribute to the improvement of the software. They are generally free and use the GPL or other open source licensing schemes. In most cases, anyone can use the software on a site or incorporate it in a product, but must share improvements and additional functionality with the other source users. Technical support is generally only available from other users and developers via mailing list or online conferencing, or by paying consultants.
